Big News

The first big news is that I got laser eye surgery done last Wednesday and it was a complete success. I am now completely free of glasses and feel like a new person. Much thanks to Catherine for her encouragement and Tasha for her support. I have had no concerns yet but have worn sunglasses to reduce glare and protect my eyes. Lots of artificial tears though.

Second big news is that we finally managed to get a house, an actual bonafide bricks and mortar house. It's very near work and has a lot of promise, just needs our personal touch. We are very excited but a bit of greediness from the seller dampened the mood a bit but he finally agreed.

  1. I've always been afraid to try laser surgery in case they get wobbly hand and end up burning something they shouldn't. What was the whole procedure like? I'm starting to get sick of contacts and glasses...

  2. Congratulations, Congratulations!

You do know that you're going to have to change your User Info on the Monday after it's all signed and sealed. :-)

'artificial tears'? Are you some kind of JohnBot? ...it would explain the manufacturer's error with the bellybutton :-p

  3. so proud of you! and jealous! I can't ever have it done becasue I am diabetic ( even though they treatdiabetic eye surgery with lasers!) I think I would be too scared as I am light sensitive and have a fear about eyes!

All those cool sunglasses you can wear! it must be odd walking up in the morning and being able to see-like a dream! I can't even see to find my glasses if i knock them off the side table in the night!

and as fo housie-I am bursting with glee for you both!

  4. yay! you can see! have toyed with idea but at the moment because I am soooo short sighted they cannot give me 20-20 so would still need contacts so figure there is no point..plus wearing 30 day contacts almost feels like I have normal vision..
As for the the house news bloomin fantastic! now you have somewhere for the bat mirror I promised you could have

  6. Yay on both as well.

As your friend 2 above said, I'm very short-sighted that they wouldn't be able to give me 20-20 as well.. so I'm going to wait for a bit longer until technology catches up. Though it would be brill to be glass and contact lenses free!

  7. Hi there, though we haven't officially met, T & J mention ye a good bit. I'm curious on the eyes thing as I'm in the same boat as you in regards to short-sightness. Out of curiousity how bad are you? I'm minus 11, though in reality minus 9 but with my stigmatism brings it to 11 or so. The last time I asked about the surgery (a few yrs ago) it could not be guaranteed that I would be brought to be glass free in the end. I think the best they could do for me was to bring me to minus 2-4 or so.
And the cost was horrendous - 2k per eye as I'm v bad.

I wonder has it improved - cost and technology since? I wear gas permeable lenses with flanged edges as I'm not really suitable for soft lenses.
