Blog Cross Posting

For the past while I've been cross posting my blog entries to LiveJournal & my new MSN Spaces blog.

It's a handy enough process because both allow email posting.

We post to both? Why not?

LiveJournal is long running & very popular but MSN Spaces offers some interesting features such as integrated photos & customisability.

Plus, I'm a sucker for Microsoft stuff :P

Birthday Fun & The Rest

Now begins my typical "How was the weekend post?". But it wasn't a typical weekend. We were invited over to our friend, Seb's "surprise" birthday, by his girlfriend Maggie. I say surprise, he arrived before we even got there. Oh well, he was a happy bunny anyway because a good few people arrived & he got a crossbow. Strange how lethal projectile weapons can bring a smile to a grown man's face.

I'm quite flattered that we were invited. We've known Seb for a good few years now but haven't interacted with him outside of Dominion. It's good to meet up with them & others in a different environment.

After that it was on to Dominion. Our friend Rachel, & her boyfriend Phil, were over from Birmingham. Again another lovely couple. Got some lovely photos of them being all romant-ickey.

As usual, the rest of Dominion was a drunken blur, yakking to people & snapping photos to beat the band. Have about 80 from Dominion & 30 from Seb & Maggie's.

New PC Case & Room Photos

I promised I'd post up a few photos of my new PC case & I have. They're at http://www.photobox.ie/album/1365907.

I also took some photos of our Living Dead Dolls, Bleeding Edge Goths & Little Apple Dolls. I have a bit of an obsession with them :P

New PC Case

My new case arrived a few days ago & it's massive. Didn't realise it'd be that big. It's 1.7 feet tall & nearly as deep. That being said, it is impressive.

My dad & I slowly transferred over my current hardware in order to make no mistakes. Some people had problems with big fans on the net but we had no major issues. Plugged it in & powered it up, just had to connect up a few LEDs to get the cool glows working.

It has front audio & USB but I'm leaving that to later as it's not a priority & is tricky to connect to my motherboard.

It kind of looks like the front of an art deco inspired 1920s train at certain angles.

No more crappy scratched beige case, that's the main thing.

I would walk 500 miles...

Took a break from town & Dominion last weekend in an effort to relax. Little did we know...

Tasha & I decided to head to Enniskerry for a look around & a walk. I brought my camera to take some snaps on the way but that was about it.

We got the bus from Sandyford to Enniskerry, had a quick look around some of the nik-nak craft shops (Enniskerry is rather small) then we headed on up the hill towards Powers Court Gardens. It didn't take too long to get to them, passing by a church & graveyard on the way (few photos taken).

Because we got there so fast & the gardens cost about EUR5 each we decided to head onto the waterfall instead figuring it was only on a little further. So off we went. And on & on & on we walked. Turns out the waterfall was another 5kms after the gardens. The first sign was about 2km along.

Along we trundled, taking the odd picture along the way & chatting about this & that. Eventually, we got there & it was EUR4.50 each in. After that walk, it should've been free! The waterfall was a further 3/4km beyond the main gate. It was very pretty & again more photos were taken but we had to leave after 30mins cause it was closing time. Doh!

So back we went along our route knowing just how long the walk was; tempted to hitch a lift; hoping in vain for a taxi. The walk one way took about 2 hours so in all we were walking about 5 hours. Still, we had a nice Italian dinner in Enniskerry & headed home.

Oh sweet bed, how I missed thee!!!

Inkubus Sukkubus Photos

I uploaded the Inkubus Sukkubus pictures from Bradford to http://www.photobox.ie/album/1340567. Again some are a little dark & some are very similar but what the heck

Cauda Pavonis Photos

I uploaded the photos from the Cauda Pavonis gig to http://www.photobox.ie/album/1338585. Most turned out ok, if a bit dark in some cases.

I'll get to work on the Inkubus Sukkubus photos ASAP.

TV Tuner

After tons of testing all yesterday evening I found out that the reason my TV card won't work is because I don't have an MPEG decoder on my graphics card.

It's my fault for not checking the specs properly but I'm in a bind now. I've sent an email off to the seller asking can I get a refund but I have a feeling I'll be declined that. Then the only other option is to buy a new graphics card which could require a new motherboard which would require a new CPU.

Oh the madness. Sure enough it would mean an upgrade for my PC but at such an expense for what I thought was a simple thing

Tech News

A few weeks back I ordered an XFX NVTV TV tuner card for my PC. I wanted to avail of the convenience of PVR functionality & built-in FM tuning. Unfortunately, after rigorous testing, it did not want to work so we had to return it. Yesterday evening, I got the replacement & still it does not want to work. Tonight I will test it in another PC, try it again on mine & even try another multimedia software. Fingers & toes crossed.

In other news, I ordered a gorgeous new case from X-Case. The case is the Raidmax Samurai 908. It took them a while to get it back in stock but it's a very sleek case & was a good price.

Sad & happy at the same time... Sappy or Had???

Weekend in Bradford

Late posting as usual. lady_bastet & I were off in Bradford for the weekend for shopping & socialising with ickle_tayto.

Friday night we headed off to the college student bar then the local rock/goth club, Rio's. Interesting place! Seemed to be a lot of black/heavy metal played in the goth section. Caught some familiar tracks though. We met a few a ickle_tayto's old college friends, in particular, Lee. A sound bloke with a great sense of humour & strong techy background. Rounded off the night with a curry, standard practise of course.

Saturday we went to Leeds for shopping. I got a few t-shirts, a new Rachael Huntington print & some other bits & bobs. Then in the evening, while ickle_tayto attended her class reunion, lady_bastet & I went to a gig. Cauda Pavonis & Inkubus Sukkubus were playing. Both put on a great show despite some technical difficulties i.e. Inkubus Sukkubus having to retry Lucifer Rising 4 times. Got a chance to speak with the lead singer & drummer of Cauda Pavonis & the lead singer of Inkubus Sukkubus. All very nice people too.

Sunday was pretty quiet. We drifted around some of the shops in Bradford then went for some dinner in the pub. Then back on the plane back to Ireland.

Took lots of photos at the gig. Just have to clean some up before uploading.

Weekend

We went to ickle_tayto's apartment again this weekend for margaritas & fajitas. Very tasty stuff & good company.

After that we headed into Dominion for the usual drunken antics. Grant insisted on getting some pictures of my seeing as how I'm always taking them. Got to chat with Patricia for the first time, lovely girl with a gentle but frisky spirit. Anita guest DJ'd & did a great job.

It's taken me a while to start chatting with people in Dominion. 4/5 years going & I'm finally mingling. Better late than never, I suppose.

On Sunday we met up briefly with Barry, tottered around town for a bit. Picked up some good compilation CDs in Chapters Bookstore from a label called Dressed To Kill. They do goth, fetish, punk, industrial, etc. collections. 3 discs for €15.99 is pretty good.

Will upload pictures tonight.
