Weekend

Busy weekend, me very tired now.

Popped into town briefly with lady_bastet & pearcider. Just wandered around, got something to eat & bought lady_bastet a painting easel as a present for her new promotion. We all headed back to my house as there was little point in pearcider heading back home.

As it was aurniam's birthday, happy f*cking birthday as CombiChrist would say, we headed into town for dinner. Was really nice. Yummy zingy sauce on the king do chicken.

After that, we headed down to Dominion where I was DJing along with Paul F & Arthur. Set went well, Orla should have it online soon. Rest of the night went well but we headed home a little early as lady_bastet was very tired after being ill at the end of last week.

Between all that madness including burning a stack of CDs for my set, I managed to get my new PC setup in order. Nothing major just a bit of data reorganisation.

I have a 250GB USB external hard drive in Finglas which was sitting idle, so I decided to make proper use of it to free up some much needed space on my notebook. I've setup a synchronisation routine with SyncToy to copy anything new in My Music, Pictures, Videos or Podcasts to the external drive, which I will bring across when I'm in back in Finglas. Saves me bringing across the whole notebook as well. With all the data on the external drive, I've freed up about 25GB on the notebook & may do a format to set things back in order.

PhotoBox RIP

After singing the praises of PhotoBox for the past year or so, I've decided to make the move to Yahoo's Flickr.

After first discovering their photo feeds then their excellent tagging system & other tools I was hooked.

The only thing holding me back was a similar slideshow tool to PhotoBox. It was tricky to "borrow" the script but I think I have it sorted now. Will do some test galleries & make the change over in phases.

LiveJournal Friends OPML

For those of you who use an RSS reader & would like to add your LiveJournal Friends, I've just found a "secret" LJ tool to export to OPML which can then be imported by most RSS readers.

Just go to http://www.livejournal.com/tools/opml.bml?user=exampleusername where exampleusername is your LJ name then save this to your PC as a .opml file.

I "say" secret because I haven't found any proper links on LiveJournal

blaquewraith's PhotoBlog

Experimenting with photo blogging at the moment. Set up an account with Yahoo's Flickr which allows you to have an RSS feed of your photos. From that I've created a LiveJournal syndicated account.

Flickr has a very convenient Web Publishing wizard for Windows XP so I can rapidly upload photos to the blog.

Bedroom etcetera

Nearly done with bedroom. Had a lot of stuff to sort out. Some to go over to Finglas, some for charity shop & some for attic.

Very happy that lady_bastet got her promotion, of course. Now onwards to me getting permanancy in work.

DJ'd on the weekend which went well. Jumped a bit quickly from trad to industrial but no technical hiccups. The flyers from Unscene magazine went down well. Think people picked them up rather than them being thrown out. Will inquire with Forbidden Plant & Tower Records if they'll stock it.

More Decor

Still working on Tasha's bedroom. Have 2 walls fully done in cream & 1 in purple requiring a second coat & another wall to finish.

The new bed should be with us tonight or tomorrow evening so all in all nearly done. Yay!

It's taken a while but I like to do a good job on prepping & painting the walls.

In other news, I've got Tasha's Xmas digital camera working as a webcam so we can use it on MSN Messenger & such.

Pierced Again

Got my ear pierced again over the weekend. lady_bastet was getting hers done so I figured what the hell.

Got another along the top of my ear. According to the bloke, my last one wasn't done very well & has settled badly :(

Spirit of Burlesque

Myself, pearcider & purple_beast went to the Spirit of Burlesque show last night in Crawdaddy.

When we first arrived, we were concerned if there'd be enough people to cover costs but it filled up well before the show. Crawdaddy is a nice venue as the bar is modern & quite spacious. Not quite the theme of the event but a good venue in general & they had a DJ playing swing, rock n' roll, etc. anyway. The stage area inside did seem a little small though.

Enough of that, onto the eye candy :P There was a 4 cute usherette girls & another few girls in corsets & bustles wandering about. One girl was going around with the albino python again which is always cool. Just before the show they had an Indian dancer who did one dance.

We moved inside to the stage area & grabbed a table near the front. After a bit, Urban Voodoo Machine came on. They were excellent, really bringing up the mood. After a few songs, they broke for a bit & The Kittie Kittie Kan Kan girls came on & did the can can (bit cramped on the stage). The band came back on for some more songs then Cherri Shakewell did her thing. There was a bit of swing dancing to follow while the band took another break. Finally the band finished up with 3 or 4 more songs.

Bought a 5 track CD of the band & took about 90 photos. Great night & will make sure I catch more of the burlesque nights from now on.

Going to the Spirit of Burlesque show tonight. Got an invite from Sara to come along & take some photos.
