The new external hard drive is working out great. It's preformatted with FAT32 which suits me fine as it ensures better cross platform support.
Threw everything from My Documents except My Music, Pictures, Podcasts & Videos onto it, as well as some straggler files from the root of my C: drive from the last format.
The re-organisation also spurred me to re-sort my downloaded applications. I use CNET Downloads to categorise them & create folders to match. Keeps things in order.
This is my last day in the ESB too. Onward to new things!

Podcasts
They've been around for a good bit now but I thought I'd give people a quick start on some of the Goth/Industrial/EBM podcasts out there.
There are loads of ways to set them up, iTunes being very popular. I used this guide to tie in effortlessly with Windows Media Player.
Click here to see my OPML list of podcasts or right click & save to allow importing.
They're a great source for new artists & songs, or something to pass the time.

Hospital
Unfortunately, lady_bastet's tummy got worse & worse yesterday evening. Eventually, she decided she needed to go to the hospital to see if there was anything that could be done.
We got to Blanchardstown Hospital at about 9.30 & then the wait began. After about an hour triage assessed her, blood pressure & general check. After another 2 hours or so a nurse took some blood for tests & did a secondary check. Finally, after another hour or so, the doctor called her in. Finalised check but could only give her more of the same painkillers & an injection to reduce the nausea & vomiting.
So as usual, 4 hours in hospital for little results. lady_bastet's taken today off & is resting at home. Next door neighbours dog kept her awake last night to add insult to injury.
I hope something can be done for her soon as it's really wearing her out now.

Poor T-boo
Seems the tablets lady_bastet got aren't really working. She's had to go home early from work.
Feel kinda useless as there's little I can do to resolve her problem. Just gotta make sure she's as comfortable as possible.

News, What News?
Very little to tell really, lads & lassies. Just burning out the last few days in the ESB. Pretty quiet in here so I'm just clearing up.
I've been checking the Irish job sites on a daily basis but the majority of the jobs are out of my league, such as senior, team leader or manager & require 2/3 years management experience which I don't have.
A large portion of the jobs also require a second language which I don't have.
Finally, all the DB work is in Oracle or SQL Server. Studying the SQL Server now but have no experience with it.
I'm not paniced though, just gonna keep sending out CVs & see how things progress.

Is he a troll, a Klingon, I dunno?
Thoroughly enjoyed Bill Bailey on Saturday. Saw a good bit of the material before but it's fantastic to catch it live. I was surprised how conversational he is with the audience. At one point, a good 5 minutes was spent trying to put across that the stick in hurley is called a hurl. Bill decided to all it Steve! Gonna re-watch all my Black Books again.

Dominion was the usual affair. tabilities, Arthur & mister_endon were on. John went for his favourite guitar trad set, Arthur started on 80s then moved to dance & Conor continued with the dance.
Got a few photos of course. Working on them now.

Big Balls!
Just in case anyone who was at the Tassel Club show was wondering about the Big Balls song by the male stripper, it's by AC/DC & here's the rather amusing lyrics,
I'm ever upper class high society
God's gift to ballroom notoriety
I always fill my ballroom
The event is never small
The social pages say i've got
The biggest balls of all
CHORUS:
I've got big balls
I've got big balls
And they're such big balls
Dirty big balls
And he's got big balls
And she's got big balls
But we've got the biggest balls of them all
And my balls are always bouncing
My ballroom always full
And everybody cums and cums again
If your name is on the guest list
No one can take you higher
Everybody says i've got
Great balls of fire
CHORUS
Some balls are held for charity
And some for fancy dress
But when they're held for pleasure
They're the balls that I like best
My balls are always bouncing
To the left and to the right
It's my belief that my big balls
Should be held every night
CHORUS
I'm ever upper class high society
God's gift to ballroom notoriety
I always fill my ballroom
The event is never small
The social pages say i've got
The biggest balls of all
CHORUS:

Grumble
With only a week & a half to go before I finish, I was hopeing this ESB strike would fall through but it didn't. Quite a few feelings of discention in here at the moment. Strikes always make it awkward even if some parties aren't involved.
Took yesterday off but I had my boss onto me 3 times. Don't know what they're gonna do when I leave if he's fretting about a day. Still their loss.
I feel a bit like Danny Glover in Lethal Weapon, only a short time to go before retirement then shit happens.

Tassel Club
Thoroughly enjoyed the Tassel Club on Friday. Glad to hear it'll go monthly. Don't mean to sound pervy but it is very entertaining with comedy, song & of course the beautiful ladies.
Was joined by lady_bastet, ickle_tayto, paddywisha, nephster13, tabilities, Maggie, Orla, Arthur & Catherine. All the ladies looked fantastic & received numerous compliments throughout the night from other audience members. Well done girls.
EDIT:
Felt my review needed a bit more detail...
First up when we got in, Herb Dade was building up the mood with a little jazz. Was surprised when I saw the site a few weeks back to see he's the chap that works in Yamamori. Small world again! He has the familiar jazz jangly voice, decked out in suit & bowler hat with a cool rustic cane.
Next up we had a faithful Cabaret performance of Mien Herr. Neglected to take any photos as I was still unsure of the policy. It was a great performance despite a slight audio hiccup. Hats off to lady for continuing on unabated. Great start to the show to get the tempo going.
The stunning Ms. lucifire took to the stage then to compare for the night but also to give us a little of her vocal elicitation. Things were kept straight burlesque for the night, no stabbing, poking, swallowing or suspending for the night. Gotta keep with a mood I suppose.
Camp male comedy from Dusty Limits followed up with some double entendres & sorrowful pining to song.
lucifire returned again for another song & a striptease complete with stocking slicing via cutthroat razor. Very efficient method of getting them off.
Next up was Betty Broadway to give us some old time choons.
A performance for the ladies next by a rather entertaining chap singing "He has big balls, she has big balls but I've got the biggest balls of them all" LOL, was a good routine though.
There was an intermission somewhere here. Chance to mingle, grab drinks & snap a few photos.
lucifire returned again to introduce the first of the burlesque ladies of the night, Fancy Chance. Humorously, she came on all nerdy & nervous in a wedding dress & threatened to kill herself as her husband to be jilted her. But of course, blink of an eye off came the dress to reveal a gorgeous petite Asian lass. Check out the photos to see her fantastic feather cloak.
Bit hazy at this point. Wasn't drinking but think I'm muddling things up a little. lucifire came on again to introduce the final lady, Gwendoline Lamour. Gwendoline also played up the innocent charm decked out in lace with her frilly parasol. She did 2 routines which were excellent of course.
The night was rounded off with a rousing bit of jazz from Herb Dade, calling all the performers back onto the stage.

Fortnight Cleanup
With only another 2 weeks to go before I finish in the ESB, I'm doing a bit of mailbox cleanup. I'm a very organised person when it comes to email (as well as most other things). As a result cleaning up isn't too difficult.
We use Outlook in work so I've just created a Personal Folder file which I put on my USB flash drive. I have it mapped into Outlook, where I've copied over all my personal sent & received emails. Any filtering rules have also been redirected to this Personal Folder.
I only keep a backlog of 90 days so it's about 3000 messages. Also copied across all Contacts & Calendar entries so all as clear server side apart from a few work sent emails.
Mmmmm, clean as a whistle!

Burlesquery Coincidencery
A few weeks back I made one of those "It's a small world" revelations. What with all this burlesque talk, I did some research on the net for troupes in Dublin & as mentioned there's the Tassel Club, Ruby Lounge & Rouge.
By an odd coincidence, one of Rouge's performers is a feisty lass called Fluffy Dutton. The surprise was that she has a regular column on an ex-coworkers site, this is where I encountered Rouge.
Her column can be found here where she explores the "ins & outs" of life.

Hellraiser
As people may or may not know I'm a big fan of the Hellraiser series of movies by Clive Barker. I got them on VHS a few years back then repurchased them on DVD (1 to 3 + bonus disc box set & separate Bloodlines & Inferno). Firstly, the VHS versions are up for grabs if anyone wants them. It's Hellraiser, Hellbound, Hell on Earth & Bloodlines to be precise.
Beyond that I've also collected all the excellent Tortured Souls 1 & 2 figures (2 series, 6 figures each) & the NECA movie figures (3 series, 6 figures each). Only downside is I've nowhere to display them as I've no room in my bedroom. They're not up for sale but just thought I'd mention them.
Finally, I was relieved to see a few months back that they were gathering the various Hellraiser comics into collected editions. There have been 3 collections so far & I'm so glad they did them as getting the originals individually would have been impossible.
So hurrah for gorey, flesh ripping, gut tearing, brain splattering, puzzle twisting Hellraiser. I love you Pinhead :P

Skype Over Mobile
Gizmodo have just reported on a USB dongle that you can pair via Bluetooth with your mobile to allow you to Skype through it. Clever idea, as you can still utilise you mobile's contacts & convience. As stated in the full article, it's essentially a replacement for the mic & speakers.

Weekend Shenanigans
Had yet another busy packed weekend. Looks like next week will be as hectic too.
On Friday evening, lady_bastet & I headed around to John T's to plan routes & stuff for Whitby. Spread out that map & did a quick run across it taking note of different towns we wanted to catch & so on. After that we watched some DVDs & I (alone) got drunk on a small of JD.
Went to Blackrock market on Saturday with lady_bastet & briefly with ickle_tayto. Chatted for a good bit with the nice lady who owns the silver jewellery & clothing stall opposite-right of the Cup & Coin. She's very nice & has some beautiful necklaces, earrings & rings, etc. I've bought about 4 of mine from her. Pluggitty-plug :P
Later on we went to Dominion. Sad times as it will be ferrousoxide's last one. She looked fantastic in her zippy PVC dress, as did ickle_tayto in her new Chinese dress. Oh & gothic_furby's new blue hair was too cool. Me want, dye hair, now! lady_bastet was resplendent her hand made glittery dress.
Got a chance to chat with gothic_furby about how she's getting on. Love you honey & glad to know we can be there for you, should you need us. Also got a second introduction to pir, again very nice bloke but tall, sooo tall & me small, sooo small.
Finally on Sunday, as a final touristy thing for ferrousoxide, we went to the Jameson Distillery. Was a very commercial sort of tour. You kind of got the feeling if they stopped making whiskey, Ireland would dramatically sink beneath the sea or something. Still, was a good laugh as ferrousoxide & pir did the expert taste testing, having to sample 5 different spirits.
In other news, still no job. Not freaked out but a little angry. Just keep trying.

Phone Interview
Just did a phone interview for a potential job. Was a bit surprised about it, thought it would just be a brief chat about some basics with the intention of leading on to a normal interview. But it was a full interview with 2 blokes.
Still did my best. Emphasised the importance of the databases in the department. Answered their questions regarding their requirements.
It is a bit of a stretch away but it's a job & a good one to crossover into SQL Server so fingers crossed.

Bit of a geeky quiz here to see how sharp people are with their l33t speak. I'll admit, I've cheated & used a translator but see if you can translate this phrase without one:

Finally got through nephster13's Region 1 DVDs. Was a bit worried for a while as the MPEGs were playing back strangely, hopping all over the place. Turned out it was Windows Media Player & the codec I was using. Just used WinDVD & they worked fine.
30.3GB in all. Now that's a spicy meatball. Will have to move on to encoding them next. At least I can give the DVDs back.

I'm normally crap at answering these questions (lady_bastet is always pitching them to me) but what are people's top 3 favourite bands. Mine are (in no particular order)
Siouxie And The Banshees
Apoptygma Berzerk
The Cure
(bit odd I know having APB between 2 trad bands but that's me)

Food was tasty as usual & the usual yap was partaken in. Experimented with the assistance of gothicfurby, with the settings of my camera to stop forewarning people of forthcoming photos. Sneak attack!!! As a result, quite a few pics taken, albeit a lot of duplicates. Few from John Y's gig too.
