i like ICQ because, like Yahoo, it allows you to leave people messages even when they're offline. and their servers seem to go down/be generally less screwy than Yahoo's. however, it's good to keep in mind that i use gaim (and before that Trillian) to do multi-messaging, so i never see the actual client software for any of these programs.
was going to point that out. as there's a difference between "instant messaging server that you're most often to be found on" and "instant messaging client software". ;p respectively, i answer "yahoo" and "gaim". the official clients for all IM programs fill me with ph33r.
